Integration Specialist

We produce market leading, large-scale, distribution and supply chain software products used by customers worldwide and is aiming for further substantial growth over the next 5 years.

As TBA’s principal Integration Specialist you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing integration solutions using, but not limited to, our preferred Integration Platform as a Service, Boomi. This role plays a critical part in enabling seamless data and application integration with TBA’s standard software products and 3rd party systems. You will work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Integration & Application Architects and our customers to understand integration requirements and deliver reliable solutions.

Responsibilities of an Integration Specialist;

  • Involvement in all stages of a project lifecycle:
  • Design, develop and maintain integration solutions using Boomi, ensuring data flow, validation, transformation and connectivity between applications and 3rd party systems.
  • Requirements gathering and analysis:
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects and customers to gather requirements, understand business process and define validation and transformation rules. You will also be required to estimate the development and testing effort for integration work items.
  • Boomi Platform expertise:
  • Possess a strong understanding of Boomi’s capabilities and features, as well as best practices for developing integration processes.
  • Customisation and Configuration:
  • Configure Boomi connectors and components to meet integration needs.
  • Testing:
  • Conduct thorough testing of integrations to ensure they meet functional and performance requirements. Work with the automated testers and development teams to devise test plans for feature work. You may also be required to work with the customers on their test plans and support testing.
  • Debugging:
  • Debug test and Production issues as needed.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of development work, ensuring the knowledge is accessible and understandable.
  • Optimisation:
  • Continuously monitor and optimise integrations for performance, scalability and resilience.
  • Change control:
  • Identify scope changes throughout the project lifecycle and communicate these to the project team.
  • Project handover:
  • Assist with handing over integration solutions to the Service Team after go-live, including the training of Service Desk personnel where required.
  • Support and maintenance:
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for test and Production environments. You may be required to provide Weekend or Out of Hours support and assist Service Desk personnel.
  • Plan for the future:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest integration trends, technology and best practices.

Experience required ;

  • 2-3 years working with EDI or data integrations.
  • Experience working with one or more industry leading Integration Platforms as a Service (iPaas), ideally Boomi.
  • An understanding of Data Integration Patterns.
  • Experience building interface maps.
  • Understanding of industry standard file formats: JSON, XML and EDIFACT.
  • Understanding of communication protocols, such as SOAP, REST and SFTP.
  • Ability to write scripts in JavaScript or Groovy.
  • Proficiency in API development.
  • Software development background may be beneficial


The following would also be beneficial:

  • An understanding of Agile development practices, preferably The Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Experience applying EDI knowledge in a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • Experience working with message broker technologies, such as ActiveMQ, Camel and Kafka.
  • Knowledge of microservice application architecture.
  • Experience using code/configuration repositories, such as Azure DevOps and GIT.
