Senior Residential Childrens Support Worker opportunities in Leicestershire.

Our client works with children and young people aged 7 - 18 years with challenging behaviour and emotional behaviour difficulties.

As a Senior Residential Children's Support Worker, you will be qualified to a level 3 or higher in Young People and Children's Services or Residential Care.

Location: Ibstock and Measham Leicestershire

Hours: 8am - 11pm. Usually 2 long days one week and 3 long days the next.

Pay: 14.00ph - 15.00ph depending on experience.

Sleep in rate: 70

Contract: Temp to Perm

Senior children's residential support worker responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a firm, caring, consistent, well-ordered environment is always maintained.
  • Working as part of a team to provide a programme of evening & weekend activities for children and young people and to effectively manage small budgets, in relation to this.
  • Undertaking any administrative tasks linked to the care of children and young people e.g. keeping appropriate records, making reports as required by the Home and any regulatory bodies.
  • To participate in case reviews where necessary and to provide support and assistance when difficulties arise.
  • To be a key member of the care team and can work within a team.
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people responsible for (or meet) in accordance with the home's Safeguarding Policy & Procedures.
  • The post holder may be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time. The above duties and responsibilities do not include or define all tasks that may be required by the post holder. The duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the general character or the level of responsibility entailed.   • To participate in annual performance appraisals and undertake relevant staff development.
  • Promoting the social and emotional well-being & development of children and young people and to consistently strive to further develop these skills.
  • To maintain a log of all accidents, incidents or physical intervention and to challenge suspected inappropriate practice according to policies and procedures.

To be considered for this role:

You must -

  • Have previous experience of working in a children's residential home.
  • Have experience of working with children with challenging behaviours and EBD.
  • Understand EBD and how to support children and young people who experience it.
  • Good knowledge and understand the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people.
  • Be an effective communicator.
  • Be passionate and dedicated to improving the lives of young people.
  • Qualified to a level 3 or higher in Young People and Children's Services or Residential Care.
